Issued by the Bavarian State Mint, the 1 oz. elephant coins have been minted since 2004 on behalf of the Republic of Somalia. Labeled the African Wildlife series these coins show annually changing designs of the earth’s largest land mammal. While other fractional weights and sizes are now also available, the most popular denomination remains the 1 oz. silver bullion coin.
